What Value Do You Place On You? DTH Episode 148 with Regi Wilson

What Value Do You Place On You?
How do you define value? What does value mean to you in terms of yourself and others? Can you love something that you do not value? Would you ever build upon something that you do not value? Would you protect something that you do not value? I’ll ask again, what value do you place on you?

Who is Regi Wilson and what is this Human Value Initiative?
Value identity and the human value initiative is a passion of my friend Regi Wilson of theequaluniverse.com. Regi had great accomplishments on the music scene where his music has appeared in numerous syndicated Emmy, Golden Globe and NAACP Image Award winning shows as well as along-side legendary music icons such as Chaka Khan, Mary J. Blidge, Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse, Angie Stone, India Arie, Estelle and Jill Scott. He also share music and television history with one of the greatest music and feature film legends of all times. A true 21st century Renaissance Man. The incomparable, “Prince” Rogers Nelson.
Despite his achievements, Regi says “there are those who reduce me solely to the color of my skin and do not value my worth because of the socially constructed mold their ideas of humanity are shaped by.”

Grace, Gratitude, Respect and Integrity… DTH Episode 128

Do you approach all of your personal interactions with grace, gratitude, respect and integrity mean to you? I make the statement every week on the DTH podcast that we cannot control everything that happens to us in life, but we can control how we react to it. This is really one of the personal accountability pieces that I refer to so often. Imagine if we all approached our personal interactions using these principles.

Grace

As written in an article in Christianity.com,  Grace is the Hebrew word chanan or the Greek word charis, meaning “the state of kindness and favor toward someone, often with a focus on a benefit given to the object.” (Strong’s Greek 5485).

Gratitude

Something I talk about probably more often than anything else on the DTH podcast. Gratitude is the quality of being thankful and having a readiness for showing appreciation. I often contend that you cannot be a happy person without being a grateful person.

Respect

Respect is really about treating someone with admiration and appreciation and seeing the humanity within them as a person.

Integrity

Having a strong sense of integrity means you are a person who is honest and of strong moral character.

If all people were to approach their personal interactions with these 4 important principles, can you imagine how much better the world in which we live would be? so again, do you approach all of your personal interactions with grace, gratitude, respect and integrity?

DTH Quickshot with Daryl Davis

In this short video Daryl Davis talks about the very first time he experienced racism. Daryl Davis joins Wilk for a discussion on the Derate the Hate podcast to discuss, racism, and how he made it his goal from a very young age to learn what makes people hate others because of their skin color. This clip is just a small portion of the complete episode of the Derate the Hate podcast that will air in it’s entirety on March 9, 2022.
Those not familiar with Daryl Davis need only know that he went right to the source of hate, not only getting to personally know several members of the KKK, and becoming instrumental in nearly 200 of it’s members to leave the KKK for good. When it comes to those who Derate the Hate, those who are bettering the world, Daryl Davis is a true legend!!
